Tropicaleze Radio

Last updated: 6 August 2026

G & D Enterprises Inc operates the Tropicaleze Radio mobile app. The app is free to download and free to use. This policy explains what the app collects, what it does not collect, and what happens to the small amount of information that does leave your device.

We wrote this to describe the app as it actually behaves. If you find anything here that does not match what you see, please tell us.

The short version

You do not create an account. You do not give us your name, your email address, or your phone number to listen. There are no advertisements in the app and nothing in it tracks you across other apps or websites.

Three things do involve information leaving your device. Push notifications are handled by OneSignal, our notification provider. Audio streaming and now playing information come from our streaming provider. Downloading the app itself involves Google Play. Each is described below.

Everything else the app remembers, your language, your theme, your alarms, your equalizer settings, stays on your phone.

What we do not do

We do not sell your information. We do not rent it, trade it, or hand it to data brokers.

We do not use your information to build an advertising profile, and the app shows no advertisements.

We do not ask you to register, sign in, or provide personal details in order to listen.

We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

We will disclose information to a government or law enforcement body only where we receive a lawfully issued subpoena, court order, or equivalent legal demand, and only after we have verified that the demand is valid and that it actually reaches information we hold. Where the law allows us to notify you first, we will.

Push notifications

The app uses OneSignal to deliver push notifications about programming and station announcements.

To make that work, OneSignal receives and stores a set of technical details about your device. This typically includes a push notification token, a device identifier generated by OneSignal, your device model and operating system version, your app version, your language and time zone settings, and your IP address. OneSignal may derive an approximate location, at roughly the city or region level, from that IP address. OneSignal also records whether a notification was delivered and whether you opened it.

None of this identifies you by name, but a device identifier is treated as personal information under several privacy laws, so we are naming it plainly rather than describing the app as collecting nothing.

You can switch this off. Declining the notification permission when the app first asks, or turning notifications off for Tropicaleze Radio in your device settings, stops notifications being delivered. The app works normally without them.

OneSignal processes this information as our service provider and is contractually bound to use it only to deliver notifications on our behalf. Their own privacy policy is at https://onesignal.com/privacy_policy

Streaming and now playing information

Audio is delivered by our streaming provider. When the app connects to the stream or refreshes the current track information, your device makes an ordinary internet request, and as with any internet request the provider’s servers receive your IP address, the time of the request, and basic technical details such as your user agent. This is how streaming works and it cannot be avoided while audio is playing.

We use this only to deliver audio and to understand listener numbers in aggregate. We do not attempt to identify individual listeners from it.

Diagnostic information

If the app runs into an error, technical details about that error may be recorded so we can fix it. This can include the device model, the operating system version, the app version, and what the app was doing when the problem occurred.

We use this to repair faults. We do not use it to identify you, and we do not pass it to anyone outside the parties named in this policy.

Information stored only on your device

The app saves the following locally, using your device’s own storage. It is not transmitted to us and we cannot see it:

  • Your chosen language
  • Your light or dark theme preference
  • Your audio quality setting
  • Your alarms, including their times, labels, and repeat days
  • Your equalizer settings and bass boost level
  • Your sleep timer preferences

Uninstalling the app removes all of it. Deleting an alarm removes that alarm.

Permissions the app requests

The app asks for the permissions below. Each is used only for the purpose described.

Notifications. To show playback controls in your notification shade while the radio is playing, to sound your alarms, and to deliver push notifications. You can decline and still use the app, though alarms will not be able to alert you.

Exact alarm scheduling. So that an alarm you set for 6:30 rings at 6:30 rather than whenever the system next feels like waking up. Requested only if you use the alarm feature.

Ignore battery optimization. So that Android does not shut down a pending alarm while your phone is idle. Requested only if you use the alarm feature, and always optional.

Start on boot. So that alarms you have already set survive a restart of your phone.

Prevent sleeping. So that playback and alarms are not interrupted while the screen is off.

Modify audio settings. So the equalizer and bass boost can adjust the audio output.

The app does not request access to your contacts, your photos, your camera, your microphone, your files, or your precise location.

Contacting us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it to answer you, and we keep the correspondence only for as long as we need it for that purpose or to keep a record of a complaint.

Links to other places

The app can open our website and our social media pages in your browser or in another app. Once you leave Tropicaleze Radio you are on someone else’s service, governed by their policy and not by this one. We have no control over what they collect. It is worth reading their policies.

Children’s privacy

The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If we learn that we hold information from a child under 13, we delete it.

If you are a parent or guardian and you believe your child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will remove it.

Where information is processed

Our service providers operate servers in various countries, including the United States. Using the app means the technical information described above may be processed outside the country you live in. We choose providers that commit to appropriate safeguards for that transfer.

How long information is kept

OneSignal retains device records for as long as the app is installed and notifications are enabled. Uninstalling the app or disabling notifications ends that.

Streaming server logs are kept for a short period for operational and security purposes and are then deleted or aggregated.

Email correspondence is kept for as long as it is useful to the matter you raised.

Your choices

You can turn off notifications at any time in your device settings.

You can clear everything the app has stored by uninstalling it.

Depending on where you live, you may have a legal right to ask us what information we hold about you, to ask us to correct or delete it, or to object to how we use it. Write to us using the details below and we will respond. Because the app does not ask who you are, we may need to ask you for the device identifier before we can locate anything, and in some cases we will simply hold nothing that identifies you.

Security

We use commercially reasonable measures to protect the limited information involved, including encrypted connections for streaming and for notification delivery.

No method of transmitting information over the internet and no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and we will not pretend otherwise.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised version on this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be announced in the app or on our website. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the revised policy.
